sudden severe foot pain

i had sudden foot and ankle pain extending down into big toe.  It will not go away.  What could it be?

not sure.  your description is vague. i am guessing that you have irritation to the extensor hallucis tendon.  perhaps you were engaging in some high impact activity or hiking?
icing and taking an anti-inflammatory (advil)can help.
