thick ankles
what would the cause be of thick ankles?

increase fat deposition can make ankles appear thick.  edema (swelling)  can accumulate in the ankles, making them look thick.  some people swell more than others b/c the valves in the veins are incompetant and leak, thus pooling fluid in the ankles.  if this is the case, compression stockings can help.  do not wear them if you have CHF (congestive heart failure).
