Acid Refllux/GERD/H.Hernia/GallBladder?

For several years now I have experienced severe episodes of food bolus. Most times I can tell when an attack of reflux is about to occur because my inner ears will start to itch. Though I have described the ear thing to my doc's, I think they think I am crazy. I have been on prescription Rantidine and Prilosec on and off for about 3 to 4 years. I have had a sigmoidoscopy, an EGD, bacterial tests for H.Pylori, and an Upper GI with the barium drink. Only one test, the EGD showed a small ulcer just under my left rib cage, and the doc said I had a mild case of acid or something to that nature. . I know from more than 20 years experience that I am subject to H.Pylori and Ulcers, however what is happening now is most disturbing. When the food bolus occurs, it is so painful I can neither make the food go down or bring it back up for several minutes. I do not drink anything except water, and my diet is pretty good as is my exercise routine. I have not figured out what triggers the episodes, as it has occurred with so many different things. Sometimes these attacks will go on for several months and then suddenly disappear for several months and return again. It's hard for me to try and describe this to a doc who wants to conduct the xray with barium drink when it's not happening at that time. That's when the doc comes back and says nothing is wrong. It's never the barium drink or liquids that produce this effect, it's always food. (Hence the term "food bolus").
Any suggestions as to what this may be?

Hi and welcome to the GERD forum.

I have had the barium swollow study and it included fod as well...they add the barium to applesauce,fruit cocktail and they make a spread and put it on crackers.....all in addition to drinking.

Have u had the study like this?

Also, have they done a US of ur throat?...Have ue thyroid checked for nodules.....

Since we r not drs, we can not say what it could be...only if it were me, what I would want checked.
