Have the same problems.
Not on any PPI yet. Just taking rolaids.  Hope to see a GI doctor next week.
Feels like food gets stuck and having difficulty swallowing food.  Can get liquids down fine.

I feel straight up like I have a demon inside me pushing acid and food to the edge of my throat.  I feel like I'm choking to death, seriously!  Does it get better after taking the PPI's (Omeprazole)?  I am against taking any kind of medication and I have refrained from taking medication for years for such things as headaches, or any type of aches or pain but this seems to me life or death. I am seriously choking when I lay down. I was prescribed Omeprazole 20mg and I have been on it for a week. It works some night others it doesn't. No side effects but I would love to get a good nights sleep. Thanks to our government I don't have a job so it could be worse. Anyway its good to know I'm not in this boat by myself but I wouldn't wish this on my worse enemy.

When my acid reflux is at its worse my food feels like it is "getting stuck". Prilosec or omeprazole is what I take. It took it about 2 months to work, but that feeling went away. My doctor said it was because my esophagus was inflamed and irritated. (Had a scope when it first happened. - I didn't have the need to have my esophagus dilated - You need the scope to rule this out.) It takes prilosec about 2 months to heal my esophagus when it gets that way. (I've had this to happen badly twice in the past 17 years.) It happened very bad after this past Christmas. I had gained weight and was over eating during the holidays. The "bad" attack happened on Jan. 3. My food got stuck and I thought I was going to choke. Here is what worked for me. I went on a diet - lost 26 pounds - that has worked wonders. I make sure I take prilosec at least thirty minutess before eating and I don't eat to close to bed time. I am just now getting back to where I can eat normally. Had I not got better I was going to have to have another scope, but since I had history with this problem, I wanted to wait to see if the prilosec would take care of the problem and it did once again. As I said you do need to have the scope. After many years of acid reflux your esophagus can begin to constrict (My doctor thought this might be what was going on with me this time, but thankfully it wasn't.) I hope you get better. It does take time for your esophagus to heal if this is your problem and the dr. will be able to tell if that is the problem from the scope. Good luck!

To add to the above

Since I have been taking 2 omeprazole tablets a day, I am having difficulty in eating, as my food passage feels blocked and am therefore losing my appertite.

This has been going on for 2 weeks now, when I went to the doctor they said to carry on taking the tablets and wait till I have a camera put down my throat. This won't be till April,

This is unlike me as I have always had a good appertite.

Has anyone had any similar side affects? could it be the omeprazole tablets?
