Acidity

I am having a burning sensation in my esophagus. It is more so evident when I am working nights. There is a rare reflux coming up to mouth, no food, only acid taste. It is not there after breakfast and lunch (maybe rarely). But it is certainly almost on a daily basis when I stay awake late night. Any suggestion how I could avoid this?

I do have belching more often than flatus.

Hi and welcome to the GERD forum.

U mentioned u work at night....do u eat ur dinner at a regular time?...and what type of foods r u eating?

It sounds like acid reflux- chewing a surgar free gum may help ward off the acid. But U do need to see a GI dr....to get the right meds....if it continues the acid can cause damage.

Thanx selma,
The timing or the food type does not change drastically, occasional chicken but mostly veggies. The trouble is there only with late night awakening. Ranitidine helps, pantoprazole did not seem to have any effect. Not sure but appears that midnight snacking does help. I am not overweight, in fact, the contrary. Seems like my system is unable to digest properly. Always think of putting on some weight but that is not happening.

I will try the chewing gum first and see.
