Hello everyone, I keep reading post and comments of some people having problem in health. I am also having problems on how to cure and understand my health problem. I am 30 years old female, I start having problems when I had miscarriage April 2012, since then I have a problem in my stomach like abdominal pain, bloating, heartburn. So, I went to my family Dr. And she prescribe nexium 40 mg twice daily for my acid.. I feel a bit better but pain or uncomfortable in stomach didnt go away. I did an ultrasound mid of august in my uterus and ovaries after the miscarriage and everything looks fine. I also did an upper ultrasound by taking Barrium swallow liquid. And found out that I have an acid reflux. No hpylori, deodunal ulcer. When I almost finish the nexium. I am still complaining about my stomach so dr gave me domperidone 10 mg twice daily. I finish the nexium and still acid didn't go away. September and October didn't have a chance to see my doctor. But I am still taking domperidone. End of october, I went to a party and ate spaghetti and drink some orange juice. My stomach start burning up to 2 to 3 weeks while waiting my appointment on November 15. The burning was so bad and severe, its so hot even my chest and breast, also pain under my rib. The doctor prescribe me pantoprazole ( protonix) and ordered me to change my diet with no spicy, pasta sauce, acid fruits, soda drinks. I feel a bit better in 2 weeks but still have burning in my stomach. I went back to my family dr dec 07, told her that I still have burning sensation in my stomach. So dr, sent me to gastroscopy. I went an endoscopy this morning and nothing found or wrong in my stomach. Everything looks fine and normal. I even told that burning in my stomach didn't go away and pain in my rib. The gastro dr gave dexilant capsule 60 mg 1x a day. I don't know what else I can do to cure my acid and understand why my stomach is burning and i can feel the hot on top of my stomach. Can anybody help me what to do next? Or any nutritionist that can cure acid reflux? Please help me to find out what was wrong with my body..
U may want to have a PH test done to make sure ur issue is too much acid as too little can cause the same symptoms as too much....
Also, ur Dr should have had u modify ur diet right away, meds alone can not help this issue, u do have to avoid the triggers, which is the greasy, spicy, acidic foods as well as carbonated and caffeinated bevs...even alcohol.
Then there is lifestyle tips as well....no smoking if u smoke, try and relax and avoid stress, no tight clothes, lifting or strain can also affect this so u have to find the root cause, if u have a hiatal hernia ect....
Urs may be stress related, a miscarriage can be long term stress...and that can be part of ur issue....
See the Health Pages for foods that r safe and foods to avoid, and lifestyle tips as well -http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/list?cid=236
Also try keeping a journal of what u eat and how u r feeling to see what ur triggers are, not all safe foods may be for u, so u have to try them and see...and eating more meals, but smaller meals during the day may help....
Hi everyone and I'm back for an update. My dr didn't totally tell me to avoid eating those foods that triggers my stomach. She said that I can still eat them but not much, so I kept eating pasta, pizza and some chili. Then when the time it went worse, dr ordered me to DO NOT eat anymore those foods that make my stomach worse.. I didn't know that, maybe if I was informed earlier to STRICTLY AVOID eating those food, my situation are not worst right now.. :(
Anyways, I had colonoscopy and endoscopy dec 14, 2012. Eveything are still looks okay, no damage. The only thing they found was acid reflux and gastritis. No hpylori, no ulcers, no colitis and etc . I am taking dexilant 60mg for 2months now. It help much to soothe and control the acid but still the pain in my ribs and upper GI are still burning, chest pain or heartburn still didn't go away yet.
How long to be safe taking the dexilant? And how long to cure the acid reflux and gastritis? I am strictly on diet now, no more spicy, no pasta that I love most, no citrus and soft drinks, I don't drink coffee and alcohol.
I even try to cure it with fresh aloe Vera gel, drinking fresh cabbage juice that according to my research it will help soothe the gastritis and acid reflux. Does anyone of you try this cabbage juice? Does it works with you? Is there any way to cure acid reflux natural and not taking any medication? I'm scared because I am only newly wed and planning to have a baby. Is acid reflux and gastritis is lifetime treatening? Do I still have a chance to get pregnant? Thanks hope you can give me some advice on what to do..
If you have been on a PPI for at least 3 months--if I understood you right---it should have cleared up your gastritis. I have had gastritis in the past--cleared up with prilosec---used to feel like I was having a knife shoved in my gut.
I had a set of twins a few years later and ended up with really painful reflux--rarely heartburn, just the kind of pain that would send someone to the ER thinking they were having a heart attack. I have a hiatal hernia that I am sure I developed while carrying my twins.
I am not familiar with the new PPi you are taking. personally, I prefer prevacid, protonix has also worked for me--but it did not work for my daughter--prevacid worked for her also.
You might ask if you can take carafate--it is prescription--and kind of the cadillac of antacids. You would probably have to make sure you time it right with your PPI.
My youngest daughter was born with a hiatal hernia--she had two upper GIs and an endoscopy--none of which showed her hiatal hernia. She spit up so much that she was failure to thrive---she was on prevacid and carafate. When she finally had a ph probe and an endoscopy, her esophagus was getting ulcerated at only 8 months old---she was refluxing almost 25% of the time. the medication just wasn't able to keep up with the amount of acid refluxing she was doing, I guess.
She had to have a fundoplication at almost 10 months old--and they discovered a good sized hiatal hernia that just had never shown itself.
Good luck--reflux is the pits--I end up in my recliner a lot of nights because of it.
Hi everyone, I'm back to update.
Its been two years now that I'm dealing with this heartburn everyday. And I'm taking prevacid everyday but nothing works for me. Last October 2013 I had a chronic coughing, throat infection with fever and hoarseness in my voice, very painful throat that I need to go doctors to get antibiotic and syrup for cough. And it happen again today. Is there anybody here experienced the same problem like mine? Is this due to acid reflux problem? What advice that you can give to feel me better with this problem?
I had the TIF surgery to correct my esophagus (born without an LES valve).
Anyway, years ago I used to take hydrochloric acid just before meals and it helped. So I am doing it again. It helps tremendously.
GERD is caused by not enough acid to digest our food! When you don't have enough acid, your food sits in your gut and rots there. So, you get gas from the rotting food. Rotting food will also cause ulcers...
