Burping after fundoplication surgery

I had fundoplication surgery about 8 or 9 years ago.  Several times a year I have burping spells that last for many hours.  I burp hundreds  and hundreds of times and have bloating.  I am having one of those times today and would love to know if anyone else has these symptoms.  I know that most people are unable to burp after the surgery.  Am I the rare exception or are there many people with the same problem?  The surgeon told my husband after the surgery that I would NEVER burp again.  WRONG!!!!

Hi Karen and welcome to the GERD forum.

Since I have not had this proceedure and I know what u were told that u "should" not be able to burp after the surgery.

I do know there are other members here that have had the surgery and I am sure will chime in with their experiences.
