Can GERD cause these symptoms?

Now before i start let me say i have been evaluated by a cardiologist and a pulmonologist, both said everything looks perfect. I recently saw a GI for my acid reflux and was given an endoscopy.The findings were a minor hiatal hernia and some irritation in the stomach. Now my question is can GERD cause chest discomfort through my entire chest and also cause shortness of breath?

I too have a hiatal hernia & IBS.  Last week I woke up with terrible stomach pain and went to the bathroom feeling likei needed to poop.  My heart was racing,  I was sweating & felt like I was going to vomit because my mouth was watering. I bent over to spit in the trash can & passed out and fell off the toilet.  When I woke up my son was knelt down beside me on the phone with 911. Went to ER and they said I had vasovagal syncope & gastroenteritis.  I did have a very large BM in the ER (very embarrassing) & felt relief. I was weak & a bit shaky for the next few days.

Yes, GERD, and or acid refflux ca cause chest discomfort, even heart palpitations......and mimic a heart attack...which is why it was wise to have  your heart looked at and ruled out.

  The vagus nerve can be affected which can cause the chest discomfort and heart palps....

and with a hernia it can affect the diaphragm which can  affect the breathing end of your symptom....do you know if your hernia is a sliding one?
