Chest pain, related to GERD?

Starting when i was 19, i started having really bad chest pains, it felt like it was on the left side of my chest, it got so bad, that i had a hard time breathing, and got really dizzy, and sweaty.  I took myself to the ER, and they did and EKG, chest x-rays, and blood samples, said it was Acid refux, and put me on meds, i've been taking them for almost 3 years now, and i still have the same pains, they seem to occur more often when i'm upset, or crying, but they have also woken me up out of a deep sleep, and i have the exact same symptoms.  what could this be?

Hi,
GERD is a possibility.
An upper GI endoscopy and 24 hours pH monitoring may be done for evaluation.
Continue taking acid reflux medications.

Symptoms of GERD are actually suppressed when you are under proper medication. As you stated that you have same type of symptoms of acid reflux when you are upset or crying, it may be due to stress or anxiety. So try to control your emotions as they have a great influence on your symptoms.Continue with the medications prescribed and you ll be soon well.
