Chronic Cough

Hi,
I'm having tonsils problem since i was a teenager. I generally have sore throat (2-3 times a year) with fever which heals after taking antibiotics. I'm 35 now and since the past 3 years i felt some cough always present at the back of my throat. This aggravated since 2008 when i was working in bangalore and the symptoms increased in that i used to get a cough attack after meals and as usual i always felt the cough to be present at the back of my throat and used to cough a lot due to that. But i didn't felt any heartburn or anything like that then.

I got some relief from coughing when i came back to delhi but the persistent cough was still there. However, nowadays, when i recover from sore throat and fever i get a lot of cough which doesn't go away by taking cough syrups and normal cough medicine. Also, 6 months back i started feeling heartburn occasionally when i woke up in the morning.

When i went to an ENT doctor here in delhi, he did a Fibreoptic Laryngoscopy of my throat which showed the following:

1. Granular Pharyngitis
2. Generalised hyperemia of laryngeal mucosa
3. Epiglottis normal
4. Movement of vocal cords normal
5. B/L arytenoids congested & oedamatous

I was diagnosed for having persistent coughing due to acid reflux. I took medicines for 1 month after which i felt a lot better. But the problem continues after i get sore throat again after which i need to take medicines again and again for a month or so.

I wanted to know whether i am suffering from GERD or is the coughing due to tonsils problem.
