I have has acid relux for a year now. It came on from no where..i take 45/60mg Lansoprazole daily, suck rennie and drink Gaviscon. It has helped with the terrible pain i was feeling after eating but i still have acid attack, gurgling stomach, bloating, lump in throat/chest. The feeling like there is a lump in my throat that i cannot swallow is a pain! I have had an endoscopy which confirmed a LES. I am depressed about it but other than surgery there is little more than i can do and i am scared to have the surgery incase it makes it worse or i can't swallow properly. Oh the joy's of acid reflux! Oh yes and i suffer from anxiety! Any ideas?
I have been taking Prevacid for 3 weeks straight. You mentioned it didn't help you at first, but then it did. How long until it started working, because mine isn't yet!
Hi,
If once daily dose is not effective, take twice daily dose- one before breakfast and the other during night.
If it still doesnot provide relief, have an upper GI endoscopy and 24 hours pH monitoring test for evaluation.
I know what your going through. I am sixteen years old and was born with GERD. I havent known anything else, so im really used to having it. I have always had an elevated bed or acid reflux wedge, or cheese wedge as I like to call it. I have been taking Prevacid for a few years now, and I will admit, at first it didnt work much, it seemed to make everything worse, but eventually I started to feel slightly better. Sure, my acid reflux is chronic and I will have it for the rest of my life, but I felt so glad that it helped. When I was im middle school, wearing a bra hurt my stomach as well, and I started getting so nervous at school. All of the nerves got me diagnosed with Emetophobia, or the fear of vomiting when I was around twelve. After that, anything scared me. I was terrified of getting stomach bugs, and went to great lengths to stay away from sick peoples. I dont ride rollercoasters, or eat out often. I also have a restricted diet, which I think helps. For me, not eatng chocolate, red sauce, citrus fruits, and many other foods has always reduced my problems. there are some good online lists. What I find is good to stop the pain is watching television, or taking my mind off of it. And I dont eat until an hour after taking prevacid. I often feel sick too, but I still make myself eat something, atleast a little bit in the morning since i cant really eat the lunch food at school. And when it comes to the blood tests, dont be afraid or overly anxious. When I had my first test it wasnt pretty. My second blood test wasnt pleasant since I didnt really have a nice nurse and I was twelve, but after having a few i felt a lot less nervous. I also had a liver function test, and an endoscopy in the same week. I think its just best to get it over with. Just listen to what the doctors tell you, and listen to what your body is telling you, and you will be fine. Thats what Ive been telling myself, and it really helps. I hope you feel better :)
