Endoscopy

by FurballsMom, Aug 27, 2009 11:34PM
I've had GERD for many years.  I just saw my GI and will be experiencing my first endoscopy.  I'm not worried or afraid.  I've had experience with colonoscopy and the endoscopy will be done at the same place I had that done, so I know the drill.  I'm glad I don't have to use Half-lytely.  I'm wondering how other people felt after the test was finished?

Hi and welcome to the GERD forum.

LOL......I know what u mean about the half-lytely...it's the worse part of the colonoscopy....my endoscopy was so long ago, I can't remember how I was afterward.

I pray all goes well and please post an update.

Thanks,
I'll let you know when the test is finished.  It won't be 'til the third week of September.

You''ll feel fine......throat may be a little sore and you may have some air in your chest, but that's about it.  Good luck!

I finally got the test results back.  Still more questions than answers.  The biopsies only revealed that the stomach is irritated, which I already knew.  I got the standard lecture not to use NSAIDS at all.

I do know that if I have any more tests like this that I should ask for Zofran ahead of time.  I didn't vomit, but that's only because I didn't eat much for a couple of days after the test.  I would've been an idiot to try to eat much of anything.  They used Fentynal and I already have an intolerance to opiates.  I would never be able to use that stuff regularly for pain management like some people do as sensitive to it as I obviously am.  Plus, it's one of the big guns in the opiate department.
