Fundo Surgery - a year later

hi there everyone - i did the fundo surgery a year ago and it has been tough.  i had extreme tightness to begin with and the food would feel stuck. ive had at least 5 scopes to loosen the surgery and got some relief but still feel very uneased and in pain. my surgen wants to undo the surgery but i cant imagine going back to the pre surgery symptoms.  

i have 4 kids and feeling so depressed and not enjoying them . please please if any one can advice or direct me i would really appreciate.

I had the same operation in 2003 but unfortunately like you I had a lot of problems. I suffered badly with regurgitation, bloating and feeling sick all the time and of course pain.   I had 7 dilatations of the LES which workd for a few weeks each time but did not cure the other symptoms.  I changed surgeons and he decided that the wrap was too tight and the only way forward was to undo it totally.  I also had a large hiatus hernia.  After the undo I did feel a lot better but within 6-9 months the acid returned and caused grade 4 erosions.  I am now at the stage of having more investigations and a possible half wrap as medication has not stopped the damage.

I would ask yourself what can you put up with and seriously consider the pros and cons.  I have since learnt that the operation has a shelf life anyway (maybe 5/7 years) which I was not told about. Maybe your surgeon could loosen it a little.  An undo operation is worse than the wrap I found and so painful due to the scar tissue from the original op.  Good luck.  Do not be bullied into anything and think very carefully.
