GERD [Acid reflux]

by MacCad, Nov 04, 2009 10:10PM
Hi folks I am a male 56 years old I had a mitrel valve repair done on my heart 5 months ago. They also did a maze prosedure to help with the irrigulator heart beats. The only reason all this was done is because I thought I was having a heart attack when in fact it was a bad case of acid reflux However the valve did need repaired but I still have the reflux. Is there any type of surgery that can cure reflux? I have tried all the OTC meds Priolosec seems to work the best. The dr. took the priolosec away because it will not interact with my heart meds Plavix. My irrigular heart beats are still there and are worse when I eat the foods that cause reflux. I am starting to run out of  food groups that don't affect me even drinking water will make me burp. Anyone have any ideas what  might work?

there r some kinds of surgeries to treat GERD such as Nissens fundoplication,Angelchiks ring around distal esophagus may be suggested in some occasions.drugs like PPI ,antacids may be used to relieve from symptoms.Reglan,Zantac may be used.there r many drugs to treat this problem but ur doc must prescribe drugs which is very apt for a cardiac patient.

Hi.....have u tried looking to see if ur acid levels r too low....u can feel the same way as if they r high....ask ur dr about doing the ph test to see.....other issues can also be from gall bladder...did they check that?

And only other thing I can think of is possible hiatal hernia.

NO dr here, but from issues I myself have had and my dad....these were things that were overlooked and found to be the issue.

Good luck
