GERD and Seasonique?

I've been on Seasonique for about 2 years now, and I've been fine up until this summer when I started having severe pressure in my upper abdomen right under my ribcage. At first, it didn't matter WHAT I ate. That was in July. I JUST got diagnosed with GERD a couple weeks ago after my second upper endoscopy. It's been a HECK of a year...well, my symptoms are AWFUL. Thanksgiving, I had plain stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and pumpkin pie. I had been told to stay away from fatty foods, citrus, alcohol so I didn't think it was THAT bad. I popped Zofran (nausea pill) that night and fell asleep. I worked 11.5 hours on Black Friday on 6 hours of sleep and came home to nap. I awoke an hour later feeling like I was about to BARF. I popped a nausea pill and hung over the toilet for another 15 min before it sorta went away. And I am fine today. This is like the 2nd time that type of nausea has happened. LAst time I had eaten McDonald's fries before I was diagnosed. I wasn't sick because I went to the bathroom a couple times after and my stool was normal, and that helped me feel better. and I am NOT pregnant. I am seriously considering getting a Green Card here in Michigan for medical marijuana because I am popping Zofran like candy this past week. I am on Nexium, and have taken Prilosec, an refuse to take Reglan due to its lawsuits against its side effects. Could this be caused by longterm use of Seasonique? My co-worker said she got GERD from mixing birth control with other meds. I have am on Chlorotrimatin (allergies), I had allergy shots in the summer before it started (cause?), Zofran, Nexium, Prilosec, and sometimes Belladonna and Levsin. I need this to stop, I am a senior in college and am now considering taking a semester off due to the amount of stresss also affecting this. Please help!

Sorry to bump an old post, but I'm having the same problem with Seasonique.  Just started it 5 days ago and have had severe GERD/heartburn the whole time.  No amount of antacids helps.  I try to keep my stomach from getting empty but food looks repulsive to me.  Ugh.  Might be time for Prilosec.

Have you ever seen a GI Specialist for this?  If not,  I would recommend that as soon as possible and repeat the HIDA scan and have the following labs drawn:  Lipase, Amylase, Liver panel and go from there.

Some of the meds were prescribed BEFORE i was diagnosed to help with the "mysterious" symptoms. I still have them around like a couple hours after I eat at bedtime and my stomach is still "full" and uncomfortable, I'd take a Levsin and it'd help it go away. The hospitals around me are AWFUl and are not very smart when it comes to a hard diagnosis. I had a HIDA scan and they said my gall bladder was functioning at 91%, which my current doctor said is very uncommon and probably a mistake. Severe nausea does occur with GERD, too. But I would like to have my gall bladder checked out again by a knowledgeable doctor. My dad, sister and aunt have all had their gall bladder out and though it says its not genetic, and I am completely vegan, it could be possible.

I have not tried those medications for nausea, I have always been prescribed Zofran.

For starts, you can't get GERD from mixing birth control with other meds.

Secondly, why so many meds prescribed for GERD?  Belladonna and Levsin for GERD?

Sounds like you are having Gallbladder attacks along with GERD.  Has a Gallbladder problem been ruled out?  i.e. HIDA scan done or Gallbladder US done?

Have you tried Phenergan, Anzemet or Compazine for the nausea/vomiting?
