GERD or Gas causing heart palpitations?

GERD or Gas causing heart palpitations?

I'm a 27 y/o male in very good health, no smoking, drinking, little caffeine. I've had acid reflux since younger but it has been relatively minor. I've been experiencing heart palpitations which have been caused when gas builds up in my esophagus or stomach. I'm 100% sure it's not just a feeling. I went to the ER while I was having these symptoms and the doc said my heart was skipping beats about every 1 in 6 but it is nothing I should worry about as long as they don't skip every other beat or 1 in 2. When i am able to burp and get rid of the gas buildup these symptoms lessen or go away. It gets worse when i lay down. My questions is has anyone else experience heart palpitations caused by gas or GERD? Is the nerve that is attached to the esophagus the same that controls the hearts electrical activity? I'm looking for as much information on this subject as I can find. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
There are case reports linking acid reflux with palpitations.
But it is still not clear whether it is significant or just coincidental.

Hi Letsurf and Dr Kini,

I am having very similar problem since one year, This happens to me when ever i eat food contain spice, salt and sour. I am in USA  and consulted lot of doctors explained the situation I did not found any clear diagnosis.
I understand from forums recently that heart palpitations occurs due to lot of foods. please read the following forum in link below.

With lot of trial and error practice I found some good food habits in the order.
Don't DO
Do not eat heavy meals.
Do not eat SOUR ( Huli in Kannada language), spice and eat less salt.
restrict to eat hard foods
Do not eat raw foods as these needs more acid to digest.
Do,

Drink plenty of water if you do not have leg swelling problem particularly drink one liter in morning before any food.
If possible fast one day in a week with only water and honey.
Please consult Dr Mantena Satyanarayan Raju for more help and let me also know if you get any feedback from any doctors.
