Depending on how they do the test (and the size of the hiatal hernia) one doctor may have seen it while the other one didn't. For safety's sake, presume you have a sliding hernia, since everything that goes with it seems to be applying to you, and everything you'd do to manage what's happening to you you'd also do for the hernia.
If you have esophagitis, you either have acid reflux or an infection of some sort. (Whenever you see the "itis" it means that there's inflammation in the area. The causes are determined by the area.) If they're both telling you it's acid, then it's very probably acid, even if you don't feel it. You might have what's called "silent GERD", meaning that you have acid reflux without burning. The problems swallowing food is a symptom. The stomach doing flip flops... well, now that's another matter entirely. That might be stomach twitching and it might be indicative of other conditions, such as an h. pylori infection, gastroparesis, and general dyspepsia. You'll want to talk to a qualified gastroenterologist about this.
It's possible to have GERD without burning, as the condition involves a number of symptoms. Blacking out and urination are, however, not among them.
i am very confused i have one doctor that said i had esophagitis with hiatal hernia and one that says esophagitis with no hiatal hernia, but i have no symptons of acid reflux but they said that was the most dangerous, i do have problems with swallowing and food feeling stuck. i also have the knot in my stomach that feels like it is turning or doing flip flops. what should i do about two different diagnosis?
