GERD?

I have had a "blocked" or constricted sensation in my throat since suffering a severe viral infection in November of last year. I have had CT scans and Xrays of my throat which all show that everything is normal. I have an appointment with an ENT at the end of the month. I have read all of the symptoms for GERD and the throat thing does tie in with what I am experiencing however I don't have constant burning in my throat and windpipe. Only have occasional heartburn and not often enough for it to be a concern. Could my throat symptoms still point to GERD as being what is wrong with me? The sensation is not painful but is annoying and sometimes makes breathing seem difficult even though I am getting enough oxygen into my system.

Had appt with ENT on Friday, put the scope down my nose and into my throat. All looked fine, checked my voice box and everything. Said the back of my throat was a little red and suggested that it could be caused by reflux. Has put me on 40mg Nexium. So far have had no relief with the contricted feeling in my throat and still have heartburn at night. She told me to cut back on alcohol and smoking ( I only smoke 10 smokes a day). Other than that there were no dietary changes. Have appt to see her again in 6 weeks to see if medication is working or not. How long will it take for the Nexium to kick in and give me some relief from these symptoms

Hi,
GERD is possible.
This constricted feeling or feeling something is there in the throat is called globus and can occur in GERD.
Take PPI for relief.
GERD can be confirmed with 24 hours pH monitoring test.
