We went today for our first session. It went ok. She was nice, but it really wasn't kid friendly like I had hoped. SHe just showed him a bunch of excercises, gave us some handouts and wants to see us next week. I'm all for doing it at home, but I was hoping they'd incorperate some fun stuff in. These are all boring exercises. I don't know how much luck I'll have getting him to do them faithfully. Thankfully summer is coming and hopefully we can get outside more. SHe also told me these were probably all growing pains. I agree, he's at the age that has something to do with it, but when a Mayo doc with 20yrs experience in this says something else is going on, I tend to believe him more. Unfortuantly we're in a small town so our options for a strictly peds PT group is out. I drive 45min one way to Rochester for work 3 times a week and don't really want to do it on my days off. We'll see how it goes at home. We've been on the Reglan almost a week and unfortunatly I haven't seen anything great happening. Jarrett had to come home Tues from school because of this stomach. When he got home, he kept eating and eating. I asked him if his stomach hurt how he was eating so much. He said it was his throat too and eating made the food coming up go back down. Remeber all those baby comfort eaters?? I'm going to give it another week and see what happens. I'd like to wait until school was out to do a ph probe, but I don't know if I can take another 6 weeks of this.

Gary Will has spinal lordsis due to low moscle tone. He also has motor dyspraxia. PT has worked wonders! Unfortunately our insurance only covers 22 visits a year so we do a lot at home. When he goes we use a pediatric group because the equipment and the treatment plans are much more suited then the ones at the adult gym in our plan. Gary also does a disabled rock climbing prgram that is free, he's there right now. Check into programs like that for students who are working on PT degrees.

Yup, we're back. I went pretty well. They got us in really fast. The doc said that Jarrett was definetly in the top 80% of kids he's seen with hypermobility. He said his joints are so loose he's at a large increase for the chance of hurting himself. His muscles basically have nothing supporting them. So what do we do.. He was hestiant on the Ibruprofen also and suggested we just try Tylenol to see what happens. Not the optimal choice, but what do you do. He also wants him to start physical therapy. He says he has to stregthen his muscles or he'll keep having pain. He questioned sending him to a genetics guy, but thought he looked pretty good. He brought up some scary genetic things like Marfans, but since he was no other symptoms(other than being very tall) doesn't think it's that. As for the reflux. I talked to the GI nurse and they changed him back to Reglan. I know some people don't like it, but he's been on it before and done ok. We have to try this for 2 weeks and then see. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Well I'm off to eat, have a power nap and go to work for the night. Nothing like driving to Rochester and home numerous times a day!!
