Have Barretts

by SheriDale, Aug 14, 2009 12:26PM
Hi,

I have Barretts.  I had the Nisan surgery done, as well as I had my gallbladder taken out.  It's been 3 and a half years.  I am experiencing pain in the same area as I had before with my gallbladder...kind of.  I am not sure if it's because of the nisan for gallbladder surgery.

It feels like someone is pouring very bubbly soda from the right side of my mid/right back to the middle.  Very strange feeling.  It kind of hurts.  I have to rub it when it happens, which is usually after eating...almost anything I eat.

I just had a scope two weeks ago to rule out cancer. My liver tests came back normal.  The next step is an Ultrasound.  Do you have any ideas of what this could be?

Thanks,
Sher

Hi,
This is called postcholecystectomy syndrome.
The most common cause is stone in the common bile duct.
The other causes include functional bowel disease and GERD.
Ultrasound scan may be done to rule out common bile duct stone.
