Heartburn or something else?

I was diagnosed with acid reflux about 5 years ago and am currently taking 40mg Protonix once daily.  Everything seemed to be okay for a while, but recently I have been having severe anxiety that has been causing chest pain.  I have been to the doc and to the er for the standard test, blood work up, ekg, chest ct, and chest e-ray.  The doctor says my heart is fine, but the pain is still there.  About three days ago I started having the bad heartburn, I think, again and am going to be getting my peroid any day.  Is it possible that the anxiety or the hormones are making my reflux worse.

Hi tooyoung99,
Yes, anxiety and hormones can worsen reflux symptoms.

That is a real good question. Personally, I think it is the other was round. I think anxiety can lead to reflux, I heard even menopause can lead to acidity! So periods can may be lead to heart burn if you already have it/
