Hiatus Hernia? Breathlessness

Hi people,

I have had breathing problems for a long time, but my GP has done the peak flow test and tells me it's not my lungs but possibly anxiety.

My symptoms are:

*Globus
*Fullness in stomach and chest
*Inability to take deep breath
*Breathlessness
*Pains in jaws

I have a good diet, but do drink alcohol.

Can anyone advise? Grateful for any comments.

  Hi...alcohol will add to the discomfort  u r having.

I can only speculate but mayb ur vagus nerve is being pinched or compressed by all the bloating....

Have u been tested for reflux?....

By good diet, what do u mean?

  Try to reduce the amount of alcohol u drink, spicy and acidic foods u eat...no soda's..... and see ur Dr for more info and testing .

Adjust ur life style....do not lie down for 3 to 4 hrs after eating, elevate the head of ur bed....

  Post an update once u see a Dr

Thank you Selma. My diet is mainly organic meat and dairy, fruit, veg, wholegrains, wine at weekends.

  Red meats regardless of being organic  can be diff to digest, and if u r having issues will take a while to move thru the digestive track.

Dairy can also slow an already slow LES..allowing acids to move up into the esophagus....so it is suggested u not eat too much dairy later in the day to allow the LES to close.

Chewing gum can help as it causes more saliva to be produced and the saliva helps break down the acids.(try sugarless and no mint)

But testing to see just what the root issue of ur problems r...anxiety will cause more acids to be secreted.....so do try diff methods of relaxation.
