Histopathology

Hi , I have had pernicious anaemia for the past 5 years. For several months now I have had symptoms of GERD and epigastric pain with a feeling of a lump in my throat.
My brother died of Ca Bowel aged 45 as did my maternal grandmother ( aged 70). I am unsure if this is relevant at all.

Please could you discuss and advise the meaning of the histopathology report done following endoscopy and gastric biopsy. Report as follows :

Gastric antral type mucosa showing an active chronic gastritis with focal intestinal metaplasia. There are regenerative changes of the epithelium focally but no definite evidence of dysplasia or malignancy. This is compatible with a biopsy taken from the vicinity of a healing ulcer. H pylori like organisms not seen.

Please advise if follow up with Gastro specialist is required or not,
Many Thanks.

Hi,
The biopsy report says that there is no evidence of cancer in the stomach.
There are some changes due to inflammation.
H.pylori infection which usually causes this is found to be negative.
