I agree with Selma.
I have vocal Cord damage from acid relux, and had the Nissen Fundoplication surgery. It was a complete success.
I had a rhinoscopy, but I think it was to rule out any tumors on the vocal cords prior to the surgery.
I still talk like Louis Armstrong sang, but it's much better than it was before the surgery. Before the surgery, I'd have a great deal of trouble talking on the phone for some reason, people had trouble understanding what I was saying. Now, there are no complaints from those on the other end of the phone.
Just an aside, whatever surgical procedure is recommended, I suggest you ask the surgeon how many procedures he/she has done, and if possible, ask for references. I did that, and had a very positive result. I hope you keep us informed through your process to correct your GERD problem. Feel free to contact me privately if you wish as I've plowed the ground ahead of you, sounds like we had a similar condition.
Hi...well first I would ask if ur GI dx'd u with reflux...and what damage he saw as a result. The fact he is referring u to a surgeon means u must have a lot going on in regards to reflux.
Reflux can affect ur vocal cords and this may be an answer.
I would suggest talking to ur GI dr to see just y he feels u need a surgeon and what benefits he feels u will have as a result.
Good luck and do keep us posted
