I'm sixteen and need help for esophageal cancer

I have been living with GERD since birth for sixteen years, i have been in and out of the hospital and had more tests done to me then you can imagine. Most of my summers have been in Driscol's Children Hospital in Corpus Christi Tx. I am on a strict diet, not eating anything spicy or late at night. I don't eat anything with dairy since i'm lactose intolerant, i am allergic to almost everything edible and my dad is diabetic so my mothet and i eat practically his diet. A year ago i had my gallbladder removed so i don't eat greasy or fried food. I have had a hematoma in my duodenum from a complication from a endoscopy biopsy. My GERD is very severe case that i had to get an adult doctor. I am currently taking Zegrid twice a day and for esophagus spasms. For the past month or two i have been having a sharp pain behind my sternum like if food is stuck there. It feels like this one test i took were they put a prob in my chest. Every time i take a deep breath the pain goes to my back, and if i swallow sometimes it hurts in the lower part of my esophagus. My acid reflux has never been this bad. I get checked for esophageal cancer once a year, but haven't got checked yet.Does it sound like any symptoms for esophageal cancer? I have been through alot and have a tolerance for pain and for once in a long time i am in a lot of pain. Can anyone please tell me if these or signs of esophageal cancer. I would ask my parents to take me to my doctor but after everything they have been through with my health i rather not bring it up yet.

Does it sound like it COULD be EC? Yes. But it could also be a number of things, for example a stricture. In any case, a change to your condition should be checked out immediately because while EC is quite--QUITE--a frightening prospect, other things like esophageal perforations and ruptures pose far more immediate threats. Obviously I'm not saying these are what is going on with you. However, while your dedication to making it easier for your parents is admirable, it is best to have this new development addressed.

HI Kassandra and welcome to the GERD forum.

I must agree with gnorb with the fact of ne change in ur condition should be addressed. It is nice that u want to spare ur parents this new developement, but....what if what u have can be easily taken care of if seen immediatly and u wait...and then u have to explain that?

What are u really helping by doing this....Talk to ur parents and see ur dr ASAP and please update us as to what ur condition is and how u r progressing. We are here for support. : )
