How many more people have to suffer from this surgery before it is stopped? I have had two surgerys now for gerd. My first one went well but it came undone. My surgern told me he could fix it. And I believed him. The day after my surgery I knew something was wrong I could not swallow water. He told me it was just the swelling in there. This surgery was in March of 2007 and still to this day I can not eat solid foods. I am living on carnation instant breakfast drinks and suffer from on going gut pain. Every time I go back he has some new thing to tell me I will be going through. He never told me it could go this way and now I am suffering from his mistake. I am hungry all the time and can not get enough fluids in me nor food. I tell any one who thinks about getting this surgery "Don't do it!"They are messing with nature and do not know the out come of their practices. And I am living proof of this medical blunder.

Hi Jerked,
Fundoplication is generally done as a last resort treatment for GERD and its complications.
Most of the patients with GERD respond well with PPI and life style modifications.

A few patients suffer from complications of the fundoplication and the symptoms you have mentioned may be due to the surgery.
But I can say that not all patients who undergo this surgery  suffer from these complications.
