I have a completely different view of surgery for a hiatal hernia than selmaS. I had the surgery several months ago with outstanding results. Prior to having a procedure called a Nissen Fundoplication I did a great deal of research, and discovered that patients who have had the procedure report a favorable opinion of their results by a 9 out of 10 ratio. I also checked up on the available surgeons and chose one with lots of experience. I also followed the post-surgical dietary suggestions completely, didn't rush into eating too much. I had digestion troubles the first several weeks. However, I've had no acid reflux symptoms since the surgery,no acid that began eating the enamel off my teeth and ruining my vocal cords. I also have developed Barrett's Esophagus, a pre-cancerous disease.
In my opinion, those people with unhappy experiences report more than satisfied patients.
The procedure called TIF is the least invasive, there are no incisions made.
If the quality of your life is lessened because of acid reflux, and if the acid is causing a pre-cancerous condition, I'd suggest doing some homework on a good surgeon and proceed with confidence.
Hi...stay away from surgery if u can...so many have other issues as a result.
Try a chiropractor that knows how to manually move the hernia, if u go a few times u may learn how to do this urself ...by moving the hernia, u reduce the reflux.....
it is worth a try, b4 u have surgery.....
