Laryngopharyngeal Reflux, redness spreading to roof of mouth

Back in February 08 I was diagnosed with LRP and put on H2 blockers and PPI for treatment along with the lifestyle modifications. When I looked in the back of my mouth my throat was red and the capillaries in my throat were red and really noticeable too. Also I had a sore throat that wouldn’t go away for mouths prior to this diagnosis. Also at the time of the diagnosis I had much blood work done, STD tests, metabolic panel , blood counts and they all came back good. I feel healthy otherwise.


So now it has been about 7 weeks since I started the treatment and I took notice recently that I now got a red rash on the roof of my mouth. It looks like the rash on the back of my throat has spread to the roof of my mouth. It is not painful and I do not have a rash anywhere else on my body. Also the lymph nodes at either side of the base of my tongue are a little tender, but not really bad.  The interesting thing about this rash is it is confined to the back of the roof of my mouth. There is a sharp and distinct boundary line where it stopped progressing to the front of my mouth. I still got the sore throat but it is no worst, maybe even a little better than before the treatment.

I went back to my ENT Doctor with these findings and they agreed with what I saw and were unsure what to do since it is relatively mild. When I go back in 6 weeks, we are going to take another look again to see.

I am worried that I got some sort of infection and it is spreading slowly.
Any thoughts.

Hi Nate,
Though I can give my final opinion only after examining you, all I can say now is that the painful lymph nodes indicate that you do have some infection inside your mouth which needs medical attention.
