My acid reflux cure made easy!

Here is my first health post, so feel lucky to be reading it!

For all that are suffering from acid reflux and heart burn i have some tips for ya! These tips come straight from my own experience trying different things that worked best for me. I have used these methods first hand for four years and they have really made a big difference in my life. They don’t make things disappear completely at first but it will greatly decrease the annoyance of acid reflux and with dedication it will go away. Try following these tips to a T and let me know how things go!

0. To start from 0, stop popping tums and buying over the counter expensive prescriptions this is temporary fix that only helps big drug companies, keeps you sick and will only remove the symptoms. It does nothing to help fix the actual source of the problem! Its almost the same thing as a a leaky pipe. Instead of going to the source on why its leaking, you put some duck tape around the leak and call it a night.

1. IF ANYTHING!! Start taking a Stomach Enzyme pro-biotic with the papaya extract. GNC carries these and heck even Walmart’s got a good version that’s fairly cheap. By taking one capsule a few hours before any meal, I can pretty much eat whatever I want without being bothered. The reason for this is because it rebuilds damaged stomach cells and fight infections within the stomach lining. It also helps break down fats in your food for easy digestion.

2. STAY AWAY from orange juice, OJ is a acid reflux sufferer’s kryptonite. If you absolutely cant stay away from the orange greatness then buy the low acid version.

3. Limit your carbonated drink intake, yes even diet soda’s

4. Limit caffeine this is another acid reflux trigger

5. Limit anything with tomatoes. Yes even ketchup. Try an Alfredo sauce instead.

6. After eating wait 3-4 hours before going to bed. Your stomach needs time to digest

7. When you go to sleep prop your head up with a few pillows making your head slightly elevated. This will help keep the food down.

8. After you eat a meal wait at least 30 minutes before you have a drink. Too much liquid and food makes it easier for food to back up right where it entered.

9. Eat slow. Take your time chew your food to a liquid at least 15-20 times before swallowing. If you eating grandmas famous pork chop chew at least 50 times!

10. Try and limit your chocolate intake, as this too is a acid trigger

11. This may be obvious but try and avoid anything with hot peppers or food that is spicy.

12. Avoid food that contains complex carbohydrates. Or basically any snack in your corporate snack machine. Highly processes hydrogenated foods are not only very hard for your body to break down its also a recipe for acid reflux.

13. Rather than eating three huge meals a day, keep meals small but more frequent. Instead try having six small meals a day.

14. Last but not least drink as much of that H2O as you possibly can, you know that water stuff that are bodies depend on!

By following all of these tips you will see a great improvement in your life the all natural way. Things will look up and the food will stay down!

Great posts and boy, do I recognize some of my triggers, I have actually been trying to practice all you mentioned. I have never drank coffee, so that is not an issue.

Anyway, thanks for sharing, it is a good reminder for all and great for those that did not know what to do. :>)

Hi And welcome to the GERD forum.

The tips u listed are very similar to the tips we have in our Health Pages and we do suggest that members do try and follow these as u mentioned, to take a med to lessen the acid production and then eat/drink something that causes an overproduction defeats the purpose and ....u will not feel better.

Thank you for sharing what works for u.
