My daughter has been vomiting for months now...

my daughter has had issues with her stomach for about 4 months now. the first two months she would just throw up about every 3 or 4 days. We thought it was because of milk products so we slowly (item by item- milk, yogurt, cheese, etc.) stopped giving her anything with milk in it. Then seven or eight weeks ago she started vomiting and never really stopped- she seems to cycle through one week of severe vomiting, 1 week of every other day vomiting and then one week of no vomit.. She throws up anywhere from 4 to 8 times a day and has been losing weight, she even wakes up in the middle of the night vomiting and dry heaving. she isn't very big to begin with so she quickly lost 10% of her body weight in about 9 days, her belly button went from an inny to an outty and her stomach is very noticabley distented. we had taken her to see her regular dr, urgent care, and had been in the ER twice. nobody wanted to help they kept saying she must have an ulcer but the medication did NO good at all, and the only thing we could do and still can do is put her on a liquid and stage 2 baby food diet. Even when she isn't in vomit cycle any solid food will make her puke-with the exception of crackers and bread. so we switched dr's and the new dr sent us to spokane. they did a gastric emptying scan and an upper GI which both came back normal so we still have no idea why she throws up for a week at a time, I belive this ruled out reflux and a blockage. we have a stomach scope this thursday and at the end of the month we go to seattle to the childrens hospital.at this point i feel pretty desperate for some clue as to what is going on...

I believe the child on the TV show started at night, but I think it was also during the day as well as it progressed and they still didn't have answers.

I feel u should try a NL to see if it isn't something neurologial.

My best to u and ur little girl.

she is on medication for outdoor allergies already and has been taken off all other common food allergies (nuts, strawberries, and even eggs for awhile). She is still on a nondairy diet and at one point we even did no soy and tried a rice milk- none of it changed her situation any. Unfortunately she is only 16months old so we don't know how much/where/when exactly she hurts. But the vomit isn't just at night either... it goes all day like a little fountain.

I saw that too, on Mystery Diagnosis.  Every night she would wake up, do a gagging noise (like if she was chocking), then end up vomiting.  In the morning she would not remember.  At the end, it was some kind of epilepsy.  I had never heard of it.  But you could ask your doctor about it.

Sorry, I pretty much just copied what the other person said.  But I still hope it helped a little.

I really don't have any other idea what else it could be.  Maybe an allergy to something?

I always feel sick (nausea).  I have asthma and post nasal drip (mucus that drips from the nose into your throat).  Maybe she has that?  I know it makes me gag alot.

Keep us posted.

Did they check her for seizures?...I saw a medical mysteries where the child was having some kind of seizure and it caused her to vomit during the night.

I wish I could be of more help....only other thing would be check her for bacteria like H.Pylori.
