Hi and welcome to the GERD forum.
I am so glad you found what was triggering your GERD symptoms....and have found relief.
I too found that tend to over produce histamine..and taking anti histamines helps my symptoms....not everyone will find this to be the case as not everyone of us with GERD has asthma.....but there is always a trigger.
Also I've been up most the night reading articles stating acid reflux and asthma seem to go hand in hand. Look it up! I hope this helps.
Ok people. I may have the answer, believe it or not! I have been battling these issues for almost 6 months. It has been debilitating! I thought it was brought on by stress. I am going through most likely the most stressful period of my life right now. I am a nursing student, so I'm hunched over studying quite a bit (thought it was muscular). I also fractured several ribs when I was 19 (8 years ago). I then thought it was skeletal. I have had extreme acid reflux, severe bloating, what feels like gadtroparesis. I have tried everything! Chriopractors, massage, gotten loads of tests that all came back negative. I've had very strange muscles spasms, mostly in the upper abdomen, racing heart, night sweats, chills... A bunch of strange symptoms that I ended up contributing to the vegus nerve. Well what I failed to put together for the past 6 months... I stopped taking my asthma meds!! I thought it was gone. I moved to a new city, allergies dicipated. Well I think untreated asthma is what's been causing this. I don't have asthma attacks. I just wheeze if I exhale deep. i was having a pinching feeling on my right side under my rib cage. I took my asthma medication following an attack and my stomach seems to have calmed down, muscles relaxed... I will keep you all updated. It's very reassuring to know I'm not alone in this.
These posts were several years ago but I just stumbled across them today in doing some searching on why my heart flutters are worse after I eat.
I have had pvc's for years now (im 40) and they started when I was about 12 yrs old. I was diagnosed with a Hernia and Gerd when I was around 25. In the past few months every time I eat my heart goes nuts. It is driving me crazy. I have found that most of the time if I get up and walk around for about an hour after eating it will decrease the heart flutters a little bit. After about an hour or so it will usually get better but not always. Im really just wore out from the worry and anxiety of it. No one can tell me that it doesnt have to due with the vegus nerve. My question is What to do about it? I dont want to live the next, God willing, 40 years with this.
I have taken a host of different meds for Gerd. I currently take prevacid OTC due to insurance issues and price. I have to take 4 a day. That is the only regular med that I take. I have had problems with swallowing in the past and after some test found that I had many erosions in my esphogus. I took Nexium then until insurance wouldnt pay for it anymore.
Bottom line, if the worsening of heart issues is due to Gerd then what should be my next step.
Btw I have had an EKG, ECHO and Halter this past month. Everything was normal except of course for the PVC's.
As with ne meds u should always talk with ur dr or pharmacist and explain ur symptoms and list all other meds OTC and rx to be sure of ne interactions and to get the proper dosage.
Some magnesium compounds can cause heart palps which will defeat the purpose of taking it, and the Alpha lipoic Acid is something I am considering, but do be sure u do not take too much excess can cause low blood sugars.

Todays update , I have taken the advice of many people on this site and here is what I have achieved.
I began taking 500mg Magnesium I bought at Wlagreens and 500mg of Alpha lipoic Acid also bought at walgreens. And my prescription for protonix. The Papitations are almost gone had 1 so far today compared to hundreds yesterday. Still think this is directly related to acid reflux and the vegus nerve. Any comments welcome.
I wonder what meds u r on....do u mind saying?
It might be a good idea to talk to ur Endo about the palps....it sounds like it is way too much and something is way out a whack.
As I mentioned in the PM...stop by the Thyroid forum here on MedHelp....the many well informed members there can give u some soild advice.

Yes, as a matter of fact I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism about the same time I started getting the PVC's at that time i was only having 1 or 2 skipped beats a day.
Hi and welcome to the GERD forum.
May I ask if u were checked for a thyroid condition? It is possible to have both thyroid and acid reflux.
I get heart palps too, but I have a thyroid issue, mine is not as bad as urs.I did see a show about the ER and a girl could not stop hiccuping...finally they put pressure using 2 fingers above each eye brow..it is a spot that stimulates the vagus nerve...she stopped!
