Pangastritis WITH taking a PPI

I have been taking a PPI (lansoprazole) for about 10 years for GERD, but I have been diagnosed with pangastritis and hiatus hernia, so why do I get no relief from these by taking a PPI? Just curious!

My mother has severely low stomach acid and also has a hiatus hernia as well. Despite the hernia, taking digestive enzyme supplements and betaine HCI with pepsin supplements is a winner. No longer suffers GERD, LPR and 95% improved with gastritis. 25 years of drugs did a lot of damage and was almost fatal. 1 year of non drug treatment - priceless.

GI illnesses and conditions have different causes, there are no easy answers.  I'd talk to your health professional about medications, including when to take them, how to take them and follow directions exactly.  in my case, PPI's worked perfectly for me for a long time, but I had an gastro-intestinal event that changed everything and PPI's no long worked, but surgery was needed and that was the answer.
