Pantoprozole vs. Omeprazole

Protonix (Pantoprozole) does not give me problems...maybe a little weight loss.  Omeprazole (Prilosec or Zegerid) causes me all kinds of problems.  Headache, chest pain, red/irritated eyes, all kinds of body aches, constipation and extreme thrist.  Problem is...protonix is by script only and VERY EXPENSIVE!  Someone talk to me about this.  Has anyone else experienced these problems with Omeprazole?

It's possible that it isn't the drug, but the filler in the drug that is causing your issues.  Try selma's Ha21's.

Hi,..it is possible after time that PPI's stop working for u and can cause  issues...I used Prilosec for yrs....when I had flare ups...my last flare it no longer worked...I now take a H2inhibitor instead and it works soooooo much better for me.

Not all meds work for everyone.....so we do have to try them and as soon as u have a reaction or side effect call ur dr.

BTW- there r H2I's that r OTC...so not too expensive to get : )

Esomeprazole (Nexium) is slightly different than omeprazole (Prilosec). But your body could react the same way.  You could try a small amount and see.   There are some combo otc drugs by Rolaids and others that have an antacid and famotidine (acid reducer).  Those probably don't work as well.
