Reglan vs Botox

Reglan vs Botox

I was diagnosed with gastroparesis back in April 2010 by a gastroenterologist.  I've been on Omeprazole and Sucrafate since then with minimal relief.  Luckily my symptoms are mainly consistent heartburn.  I met with my gastroenterologist yesterday and he'd like to try something to speed up my stomach emptying.  He suggested either a small dose of Reglan or Botox injected into the nerve.  Needless to say I've read terrible side effects for the Reglan, but I don't want to have an endoscopy every 6 months.  My doctor has assured me that he's been prescribing Reglan for years with 90% of his patients having minimal to no side effects.  However, I'm still worried about taking the Reglan.  Any advice you can offer would be very helpful.  Thank you!

Hi,
Prokinetics are the mainstay in the treatment of gastroparesis.
Reglan causes serious side effects in children and elderly individuals.
You can take other prokinetics like domperidone, itopride etc..
