GERD (ACID REFLUX) EXPERT FORUM
Should I Change to Kapidex?

Should I Change to Kapidex?

I have had GERD for years.  I went from Aciphex to Protonix and now Nexium.  I have recently had a B-12 count toward the low level (but still in normal range) and am concerned that this is because of the medication.  I also heard that the medication can cause stomach cancer.  Is using the medication for so long safe?  Is there a timframe for which it should be stopped?

Also, I recently heard about Kapidex.  Is this significantly better than the others out there (including the Nexium I am on) or should I stick with the Nexium?

Hi,
PPI are relatively safe medications. The duration of treatment depends on how respond to treatment.
Only in anaimals it has been found to cause a type of cancer.
You can stick with Nexium.

Hello.  I have taken GERD medication for about 20 years.  I was on Prevacid for many years.  My GERD is severe, and nothing else worked as well.  Protonix and Nexium did NOTHING for me, nor did Aciphex.   Prevacid works OK, and my doc suggested Kapidex and I took it for a month.  I did about as well on it as the Prevacid if not a tad better.  I think Prevacid and/or Kapidex blow away Nexium; although what may be right for me will not be guaranteed for you.  My doc gave me a 3 week free-sample of Kapidex, and you take it once a day.  I'm always open to trying something new.
