Sigmoid Polyp

Sigmoid Polyp

Hi,
I am a 61 years old male, I had some blood in my stool so i did a colonostripy. The doctor found that I have a huge pedunculated polyp, he removed it and we are waiting for the biopsy. The polyp was found at the entance of the lumen. My question is, does the size and the shape of the polyp means he has higher risks of cancer? Do you think the origin of the polyp is from the stomach? in case it is cancer, does the size indicated the stage?

Thank you

Hi,
The risk of cancer depends on the size and the type of polyp( biopsy report will tell that).
No it cant be from the stomach.
Sigmoid colon is the most common area where polyps arise.
Only after seeing the biopsy report anything can be told about the nature of the polyp.
