Symtpoms After Antibiotics, please help

by Vashti998, Oct 20, 2009 04:03PM
Last month I finished a very long course of two different types of antibiotic following dental implants.   I now have bouts of extreme sub sternal pain, only relieved by belching.  I do not have stomach pain as such, but constantly feel something going on behind my breastbone, like my eosophegus is in spasm.  Because it is relieved by belching I am not concerned it is cardiac related.

I have tried taking a probiotic (acidophilus bifidus fos) but the condition does not seem to be getting any better,  Would I benefit from a proton pump inhibitor, or is there anything else I can do to speed up the return of healthy flora to my digestive tract.

Thank you

Hi,
You have symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease.
Proton pump inhibitor may be taken for relief.
Since you have taken antibiotics you gut flora would have been affected.
Continue taking probiotics. Yogurt can also be taken.
