Throat

I have had this feeling that something is in my throat. It is even more bothersome at night. At times I feel that my breathing is being disrupted because of this. Instead of swallowing, I feel like I have to gulp instead. Sometimes I have to drink water along with my meals because of a feeling like my food is going to get stuck. It feels like something is pressing against my esophogus.

Hi,
This symptom is called Globus sensation.
One of the causes is GERD.
Taking Prilosec may be helpful if it is due to GERD.

I have bein diagnost with Focal intestinal Metaplasia. My Doc put me on Nexium 40mg for Daily.I don't think Nexium works. I have ball sensation in my esophogus, feels like I can't breed.

Don't have Insurange I'm keep paying these Doctors, getting very Expensive, seems nothing helps with my problems.I need help despertly.

I don't know what else to do?

I have the lump in throat feeling, too.  I am scheduled for my first endoscopy next month.  I have had GERD for many years.  I had bad experiences with the PPI's and Zantac (Ranitidine) isn't the least bit helpful.  I am careful with my diet, but I still get this feeling in my throat and the pain right below the sternum.  I rarely get heartburn from my foods any more, because I am watching very carefully what I eat.  What kind of treatment other than PPI's and/or Ranitidine do you suggest?  Every time I was taking PPI's they were making me very nauseous within only a few minutes of taking the medicine.

I went to the doctors and he sent me for a Head and throat  MRI. I have been getting bad headaches along with the feeling that something is in my throat. He didn't even mention anything about the throat issue. In the past I have had to take antibiotics, cafate(or something, a big white chalky pill) prilosec, ramitidine, etc. etc. I feel soooooo miserable.
