Ulcer or Gerd?

My husband who has had extreme anxiety for the last couple of months, seems fine now with the exception of waking up every morning at 4am with a burning sensation in the upper stomach area, lower chest area (where the ribs come together)  this does go away after he has been up and walking aruund for a couple of hours.  How can I help him?

He's having nighttime reflux. Try this:

1) Put the bed at an angle for sleeping. The steeper, the better. A wedge pillow might also work, but make sure to bend from the waist. Using multiple pillows is not an option. Sleeping in a recliner might also be good.

2) Don't eat or drink 3+ hours before going to bed, only water. Water should be stopped an hour before going to bed. Also make sure the dinner's light.

3) Take an antacid like Pepcid or Zantac before going to bed. Do this for a week, then go off of it. If after a week the heartburn stays, go to a doc.

Good luck.
