Vegas Nerve and Asthma

I recently had an emergency appointment with my GP because of chest pain and shortness of breath - I thought it was the beginning of a heart attack. I was given an ECG which was normal.  I do suffer from hiatus hernia, palpatations and "lurches" as described by so many, along with late onset asthma.

My GP prescribed oral steroids - Prednisolone - to help with the asthma (which it has) but I was wondering whether the asthma attack had been brought on, or worsened, by a bout of GERD/hiatus hernia symptoms.

I would be interested to hear from anyone who has had a similar experience.
