Virtual colonoscop

by dawnwar, Sep 22, 2008 01:54PM
I had a virtual colonoscopy last week and the findings came back with pedunculated polyp in the region of the splenix flexure...size is 9-10mm.   Is this something that needs to be followed up?

Hi,
Colonoscopy has to be done.
This is done for two reasons -
1. To remove the polyp
2. To look of similar polyps that might have been missed by virtual colonoscopy.

After the polyp is removed, a histopathological examination of the polyp has to be done to know what type of polyp it is.
Knowing the type of polyp is essential to decide further course of management.
