What is Pylorus with Granular Change of Gastric Mucosa?

Hi,

I just had an endoscopy done this morning.  One of the findings was that there was a mild deformity of pylorus with some granular change of gastric mucosa but no active inflammation.  Few gastric biopsies were taken for histological evaluation.  What is granular change of gastric mucosa?  Does that mean I have tumors in my stomach?

Hi,
Granular changes does not indicate tumors.
IBD can produce granular changes .
Only the histopathological examination of the biopsied material will be able to give the final diagnosis.

Dr. Kini,

My doctor called and said there was no tumors in the stomach.  Now, I was taking antibiotics to kill H. Pylori bacteria.  I was also taking antacid.  My doctor said that from the endoscopy she could tell that H. Pylori bacteria has been destroyed.  She took some biopsies because she wanted to see how long I had the bacteria problem because from the endoscopy, it looked like the problem had been there for a long time.  Now, if the bacteria is gone and no active inflammation exists, why do I still have discomfort in my stomach every time after I eat still?  Tomorrow will be the end of my antacid treatment, shouldn't the acid reflux or gastritis be treated already?  If not, how long usually would it take to treat the problem?
