Zantac, Prilosec side effects.

HOLY COW!  Started taking Protonix for my acid reflux and it worked great.  Problem is my prescription insurance has run out so I now have to purchase Zantac or Prilosec OTC.  Anyway...I started with Prilosec (omeprozole) and all was well until day 6 when I developed the worst, constant, headache, skin rash on my arm and blurry vision.  A few days later I switched to Zantac (Ranitidine) and within 3 days noticed that I would wake up in the middle of the night with severe join pain in my elbows, wrists, ankles & knees, I developed seasonal allergy symptoms, tingling sensation in both hands and feet and back pain.  I read on a few websites that the joing pain and tingling sensation could be a symptom of low B12.  

Anyone else have these experiences?   It ***** getting old.

try Zantac Effervescent tablets - drop 1/2 tablet in water and wait till it dissolves. Only take it when you feel bad and have the 'reflux feeling' (you know what I mean.....) I take this almost every night about an hour before bed, and if I eat the wrong thing in the day I take another 1/2. It seems to help me the best. I've been down your road for years, and my arthritis and joint pains, tingling fingers, soft tissue aches keep waking me up and I can hardly walksome days. Take painkillers and up comes the reflux and all the other crap. Can't win...I'm now 66 and can tell you that the 'golden years' are here at last, and they can kiss my a...se! Try the zantac this way instead of regular tabs and see how you get on. It works instantly by the way.

Hi....not all meds work for everyone and it could be u need to try something else...mayb a H2 blocker instead of a PPI?

Call ur dr ASAP...netime u have a reaction to a med.

Hello , i was just put on omeprazole (prilosec) 20mg about 10 days ago , i havent really experienced  anything , except my voice changing  which its already soft as it is . ive been clearing my throat alot also  but that may be do to from smoking so many yrs , but its been 2 1/2  months now since i quit . But other than that i havent really seen anything dif , while taking it ! i wish ya luck and if its a allergic reaction maybe u should go to your doc and tell him !
