I constantly have acid relflux. Associated with painful belching of food and liquid back into my throat. I have had this problem going on 3 years now. I have to get this fixed. Any suggestions?

Some people call bile reflux, acid reflux.

Google bile reflux and you'll notice the difference.

I take what the doc ordered for acid reflux ... I have both of them. Antacids gave immediate relief for acid reflux ... tums or rolaids.

But nothing was avaliable for bile reflux - bile comes up in your throat and you can't believe you'll be able to keep on breathing. The docs couldn't help me ... and I went to the emergency at the hospital once because I was sure I'd not be able to breathe in a few more minutes.

Ice cream - 1 to 2 cups of ice cream and my bile reflux disappeared almost like antacids made acid reflux disappear. Within 20 minutes (no lying down) I was totally over my bile reflux ... and I'm enjoying a cup of coffee right now. Half an hour ago I thought I was off to the emergency again - where they have no help for bile reflux.

Any flavour seems to work - frozen yoghurt doesn't.

Thank gawd !!

I take Nexium every morning then wait 45 mins. until I can eat but I still fight my reflux.  After eating at night, don't lie down for a few hours.  You need to keep the acid from staying in your esophagus or you can get Barretts Esophagus which can bring cancer.  Have this checked out.  Jeanne

Certainly a good first step would be seeing a doctor.  He/She will have suggestions regarding medication, possible amendments to your lifestyle and diet.  Be careful of online suggestions until you see a medical doctor.  That being said, you need to add specifics.  For example, do you experience this at night or first thing in the morning?  If so, then raising the head of your bed about six inches might be a help.  Do specific foods/drinks ingested seem to aggravate the condition?  Are you taking any medications now?  Are you overweight, and does exercise help or aggravate the condition?
It sounds like you indeed have a problem that needs attention.
