Looking for a remedy to cure the shooting back pains after eating. I have been on three different PPI's and even this one im on currently only helps with the regurgitation after eating. I can still feel food sit in the back of my throat, and get the sharp pains. Has anyone else experienced this?
Yes, I am dealing with this. I was taking Prilosec 2x a day but it was not working. Now I am taking Dexilant and it is helping some with the burning reflux, but not the pain which I think is from esophageal spams. My pain feels more like minor to moderate heart attack or some thing. shooting sharp pains accross my chest and into my back, shoulder or under arm area. Mine will happen for a few minutes or for hours. It also feels like it is affecting my breathing. I know what you are going through and it *****. I also have the feeling or food stuck in my lower esophagus and more recently in the back of my upper throat. Any hard small bits like chewed nuts, apple, raw carrots even cooked oats seem to stick around in that area and drive me crazy all day. Some time small pieces of food I ate the day before are coughed up. I can feel cold and hot food go down and slowly creep back up my esophagus. It's annoying and wierd. I am mostly on a soft food, liquid diet at this point so I don't choke. I am am amazing chef and love food so this really bites the big one, but I have become a master at smoothies and pureed soups. I have also recently switched to a very low acid diet which I think might be helping some. My GI thinks I might have some motility disorder. I have had an upper endoscopy and dialation which did not seem to help. I recently saw a specialist for this and I am anxiously awaiting the numerous test that a scheduled in 3 weeks. Then I have to wait another to find out what they mean. My issues seemed to start in October and have progressivly gotten worse quickly (in my opinion). The worst part other than feeling like I am having a heart attack is the waiting beween doctors, appointments and tests. I have not found a remedy but I have heard nitroglycerine can help but I have not tried this yet. Have you seem a GI about this? I wish you luck with this I am interested know what you find out.
