acid relfux

so i have very bad heartburn, upset stomach, with pain. i get heartburn bad enough to cause me to vomit, or i eat and i get severe pain right afterwards a very yucky feeling, where i am doubled over in pain and it lasts for anywheres from half an hour to an hour. if i eat or drink anything i have bad heartburn doesnt matter what it is. my doctor prescribed me pantoloc for the heartburn which is not working at all. all it does is make me vomit..i am at the end here i am 23 years old and i am usually so uncomfortable because of the heart burn. my doctor said it is acid reflux and the pantoloc will help, but hasnt, any ideas?

Hi leigh222,
Though your symptoms are suggestive of GERD, pancreatitis should also be considered in your case.

Tests I suggest -

For GERD -
1. Upper GI endoscopy
2. pH monitoring

For pancreatitis -
1. Serum amylase/ lipase
2. USG/ CT sacn abdomen

You continie taking pantoprazole twice daily immediately before  food.
If you take alcohol and if you smoke - it is advisable to quit these.

i took nexium and then zegerid. they helped me for acid reflux but i just had the nissen surgery 2 weeks ago so i dont take anything anymore...good luck..
