I am a 52 year old female, nonsmoker ,never drank alcohol and was diagnosed 1 year ago with barretts( my father had barretts esophagitis also but has since passed). Recently i have had increasing pain under my xyphoid and awaken every morning with nausea and sometimes vomiting. I also am experiencing hiccups immediatly after beginning to eat. I am taking prilosec twice daily is there any other treatment and should i be concerned?

Barrett's esophagus occurs due to long term GERD.
It increases the risk of esophgeal cancer.
Continue PPI.
Regular endoscopic surveillance is recommended.
