hi
im 14
im  a vegetarian
i have many of the same symptoms as the people on this forum.
i cant fully inhale most of the time..when i do it is painful \\\\
ive only just noticed this being a real problem in the past few weeks.
i get short of breath from talking
i am tired all the time and can sleep nonstop if no one wakes me up
when i turn over in my bed some times i feel like i cant breath til something slides out of the way to let me start breathing again..of course this makes me scared.
i saw the doctor recently...for the breathing and also for the lower abdominal pain ive been having
i dont know if they are related or not
i was examined at hte emergency room..i was sweating a lot,  i think from trying to get my breath and then when i am able to catch my breath i have pain in my chest and throat.  i could barely get enough air just sitting.
on top of this i had extreme lower abd pain..i was in between my cycle and if that was not enough i feel like i need to go pee but nothing comes out...quite a mess i am
the doctor felt around my abdomen and then took some blood and a urine sample.
he said there is no signs of uti, my blood work was normal. my iron and oxygen levels are fine and then told me he would refer me to a gynecologist thinking my abd pain was related to endometriosis.
all i care about right now is my breathing
i asked him if the endometriosis could cause my difficulty breathing and he said no and sent me for a chest xray which also came back normal. then he said he would schedule me for an endoscopy but it might take a few months.
i cant wait months to breathe.properly
after reading the posts i hear so many on this forum having many of the same breathing issues as me.
so it does make me feel better to know that im not alone and i hope we all find relief soon.
i also read a few posts about vit b12 deficiency and realize i might be at risk being a vegetarian
the doctor thinks i might have a hiatus hernia causing the shortness of breath and the endoscopy will determine that.
the doctor gave me some naprosyn for pain and losec he says to protect my stomach from the napsrosyn.
i have another drs appt this friday.  i am going to ask for a urine test to verify my b12 levels.

i was going to ask to be referred to a chiropracter becaues i heard sometimes they can massage the hernia back into place.
i have been trying to drink water and jump up and down or off from a chair but that hasnt worked.
i have tried massaging beneath my sternum trying to move sthg out of my diaphragm if it is a hernia but no luck there either.
i have been trying to meditate because no matter what it is stress can make it worse.\
i am scared to go back to emerg about breathing because the first doctor didnt seem to make much of a deal about it.
i dont want to be pereived as over reacting but i do think it is crazy to trivialize BREATHING.
i know the people on this forum who have the same issue know what im talking about so at least i can say it here without being diagnosed with anxiety.
anyone would feel this way if they couldnt breathe.
i mean if someone was on fire they would be screaming for help..that doest constitute over reacting!!

Singer person:
when i read your post i couldnt believe how similar are symptoms are..and i also wore tight bras for the past 5 months at school because i hate being big on top  and when i read your corset thing i wondered myself if perhaps i might added that extra strain on myself.
i am very interested to know the results of your ct scan or endoscopy..whichever you were able to have first.
i wish i could have a ct scan..i am scared either way
anyways ..i hope we all find relief real soon

If it is a hiatus hernia, then Nexium would help a bit. You need to keep yourself calm and i know it is hard to do but you have been checked and tested and the doctor has seen nothing to be to alarmed about. what you are discribing sounds like a hiatul hernia and panic attack combined. it is very common for someone with stomach issues to have anxiety which in turn would cause even more breathing problems. when you have an episode, you think you are not getting enough oxygen when really you are getting to much because you start to hyperventilate. It could also be your gallbladder that would cause these problems or H-Pylori which is a bacterial infection that is treated with antibiotics.

Are you taking anything for acid reflux or the hiatal hernia? Can you try zantac or prilosec otc? I have a hiatal hernia and acid reflux and it effects my breathing when it is at its worse. When it first hit me 17 years ago, my grandmother said, "Have you tried taking tums?" I hadn't and didn't take anything until I finally was diagnosed with the acid reflux through an endoscopy. If I had listened to her to start with, I might have gotten some relief while waiting for the doctors to make up their minds about what was wrong. I was 27 though. Don't try anything without your doctors advice or parent's advice since you are only 14. My 19 and 17 year old girls don't take anything without asking me first. :) I hope you find help. It is a miserable thing, but at least your oxygen levels were ok. That probably means acid reflux. At least that is something you can learn to live with with the proper treatment. Good luck
