burning stabbing pains

Starting about 6 months ago, I started getting serious pains in my abdomen. I went to the ER and they did some blood tests and stuff and the doctor gave me an anti-spasm medication and said i had IBS... even tho i am having normal bowel movements. well a few days later the pains had not let up any and I went back to the ER and this time the doctor ordered blood tests AND an ultrasound to look for galstones. The ultrasound came back negative. The blood work both times something came back high, but I cant remember what it was. After the ultrasound was negative the ER doctor referred me to a GI specialest. (keep in mind, both my mother and my cousin both had ultrasounds on their galbladders and returned negative, they had them removed anyway, and in both cases, their galbladder was packed of sand and stones... but the ultrasouns showed nothing) when I went to the GI doctor she ordered me a nuclear injection test thing (cant remember what its called, sorry) and it came back showing that my galbladder was operating at 98%.... (weird... same thing happened on my moms test results when she had it done) so after that the GI doctor said that she thinks I have GRD and she wants me to take prilosec. (I also mentioned to her that a few months prior i had been taking approx 1600mg of Ibuprofen a day... ulcer maybe?) the pains went away for the most part, i still had them, but not very bad, but this last week they have come back and they are killing me! They hit hard on the 1st, after I had drank quite a bit on new years eve. Does anyone have any ideas?? I would go to the doctor but I dont have insurance... Im affraid they won't really do anything again and Ill get stuck with a huge bill... Im in so much pain I cant take it anymore! Oh, and the pains vary in location. mainly just below my ribcage on the left side has a BURNING and stabbing pain, but there is a dull pain pretty much everywhere else in my stomach... sometimes stabbing all over

Well I can tell u but u may not want to hear it, but u said u drank quite a bit NYE?....well alcohol is not good for gerd or GB issues....Please try and follow lifestyle and diet changes to aid the meds and possibly reduce ur pains.

Were u checked for H. Pylori?

If u have a family history of GB keep pushing for them to check, but u do have to make some changes ...see the list of foods to avoid in the Health Pages here on MedHelp.
