can acid reflux problems cause severe pain

ive been having upper tummy problems for nearly 3 months now. ive pain right in the middle of my upper abdomen about 3 inches above bellybutton,it started as just being uncomfortable and gradually is getting worse, its really bad at times and feels like its coming from deep inside, like a real heavy ach or someone squeezing my insides, its a really horrible sort of pain which now is spreading to my right side.ive low back pain and pains up my back alittle bit like someones poking me hard in the back.ive vomited twice this week..out of the blue.also had chest pains on and off.ive had ultrasound so i know gallbladder etc is fine. im getting worse and had enough of all this. the doc keeps going on about acid reflux but can it really be so severe pain?? ive been on a course of meds for this but obviously im still in pain,i cant see how i could have this but feel so bad! ive ocassionally had mild heartburn but nothing bad. also ive gone from having daily loose stools to constant constipation. i do have IBS but im certain this pain is not related but i do think whatever is wrong is causing the constipation. im never ill so this is so frustrating for me,i now have to go for test for h polyri as my doctor dont know what to do with me!  any ideas/help  please as i want to feel well again!! PS im 31 yr female.  thank you

Hi,
Acid reflux can cause severe pain.
But PPI usually provides good relief.
If there is no relief the following tests are to be done -
1. Upper GI endoscopy
2. 24 hours pH monitoring - to confirm the diagnosis of GERD
